Mystery Quilt and a Big School Girl

The results of the mystery quilt night last weekend. It's still to be sewn together and I'll put a border around it. I think it's really neat and so easy to do (mind you I would have had it finished that night only I was busy chain piecing and then realised I had turned one lot of blocks the wrong way. Frustrating.. sometimes I do wonder about myself!!

My little Princess turned 5 last Sunday and is now "a big school girl". She rang me tonight to say she'd read the teacher a story. I thought she would be tired but far from it. She was a bundle of energy tonight. Little Alex is at 'big kindy' now so he's very pleased with himself. They are such cuties.. what a shame they grow up. They were busy watching a Dora Movie in Mum's room after a very busy birthday party!

Goals for this weekend - Housework of course Boring! Finish my selvedge quilt, finish the mystery quilt, start a project with plastic bags, and go for a walk.

Progress

I'm still here. I've been very busy for the last week. Can't believe I have nearly finished a challenge 6 weeks before the competition. I'm usually doing them in the last week! I can put a photo in here because only one of my friends in the club knows I have a blog. This is all made from selvedges. I cut them off all my fabrics and a few friends have given me some too. I've run out of the bright green for the centre so this is as big as it gets. Selvedges are really interesting and some are quite gorgeous in their own right.

I've also cut most of the fabrics for my mystery half nighter quilt - 38 different fabrics and a dark, and a light (I have to cut them into 2" stripes and sew them together before the night).
And now I've got another great idea for the Go green challenge but I'll keep that one to myself for now. I have to work out how to put it into fabric ... the old grey matter ain't slowing down yet!

computers grrr

Not sure what's been happening... whether broadband is extremely slow but for the last few days I haven't been able to get into my blog or the internet sometimes. My email downloads fine, connection is okay?? I'm not computer literate at all!
I've also had my baby staying for a week.. well he's nearly 30 but still I wonder! He moved into a flat on Thursday and hopefully starts work on a permanent job in the next few days.
I've started my selvedge quilt in a log cabin style. Thought green looked good but it's too busy so changing it to red.
Red fabrics need to be washed so I've just got it off the line and am ready to cut and start again.
I've finished the hydrangea (top that is) and I've cut all my batik squares for a mystery half nighter class I'm going to in 3 weeks. Any scraps I had left over I cut into squares and rectangles so I've been sewing some of them together while waiting for the red to dry. I hope I don't get any visitors today, my lounge looks like a fabric explosion!!

Now I've also found another idea for our RCQ challenge at Tote n Gloat in May. So now I'm also looking for coloured plastic bags. I can get red, yellow and white here where I live but if anyone knows what shops have different colours ie. green, black, grey,..... please let me know!! I have 6 weeks .... oh well I'm always running around at the last minute haha. It's just after symposium (which reminds me I have 9 blocks to make for that).
Hope everyone is enjoying a lovely sunny day today!
